Join Literature Works’ One Giant Read where, for each month of Tim’s Mission, you can explore a showcase of the best science fiction writing and poetry and learn of the incredible science facts it has inspired.
One Giant Read is a Literature Works project in partnership with The UK Space Agency, ESA, RNIB and supported by Plymouth University. It’s an online shared reading experience designed to bring space sciences and STEM subjects to diverse audiences. Each month of Tim’s mission, we are offering our audience a new theme of content to explore the ways science fiction has inspired science fact. Each month brings new features including audio book extracts from authors ranging from Alastair Reynolds to HG Wells, classic and contemporary poetry from poets such as John Clare, Sir Andrew Motion and Simon Barraclough and we have writer profiles, interviews and book reviews. We’ve also been talking to Scientists who tell us how science fiction matches up to science fact and why they were inspired to become scientists.
We want our readers to get involved by sending in their flash fiction stories for a chance to win a fantastic goody bag and their own Principia mission patch, and we will publish the best entries and book reviews we receive each month.
